The Scalabrinian Lay
The Scalabrinian Lay Community at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Chula Vista, California is dedicated to living the Gospel through service to migrants and refugees.
Our mission is to support our parish priests in fulfilling our shared vocation: serving our migrant brothers and sisters with compassion, dignity, and faith. Inspired by the legacy of Saint John Baptist Scalabrini, we are committed to welcoming, accompanying, and uplifting those who are beginning a new chapter in their lives.
We are part of a parish community that places special attention on serving the immigrant population, particularly within the Hispanic community. Through pastoral care, spiritual guidance, and community integration, we strive to create a space where every person feels welcomed, supported, and at home.
Our vision is to continue growing and preparing ourselves as Scalabrinian Lay Missionaries through ongoing formation, allowing us to share our gifts and charisms in service to others. Guided by faith, we remain committed to responding to the needs of migrants, offering help, accompaniment, and support in every circumstance.
Rooted in a spirit of service and compassion, we work to strengthen the connection between faith, community, and action—building a more united parish where the Gospel is lived through love and service to the most vulnerable.
