Every purchase gives back. And 50% of every business membership supports its parish or cause.

How Do Donations Work on ParishMart?

ParishMart offers flexible and transparent donation tools that allow users to support parishes and causes with every transaction. Donations are processed securely, with clear accounting and legal compliance.

Types of Donations

  1. Donation as a Product

Causes or parishes can list “donation” as a product on their E-store. Buyers can choose the amount to contribute and add it to their cart like any other item.

  2. Donation at Checkout

Users may add a voluntary donation during checkout, assigned either to the seller’s selected cause or to a cause of their choice. This allows every purchase to also serve a charitable purpose.

Cost of Donations

  • ParishMart platform fee: 3% per donation transaction (covers technology, processing, and reporting).
  • Credit card processing fee: 2%–3%, depending on whether the recipient organization is a registered 501(c)(3) or not.

Fees are automatically deducted before the net amount is transferred to the receiving account.

Integration with Existing Donation Software

If your parish or cause already uses a donation management system such as ParishSOFT Giving, Pushpay, or Tithe.ly, ParishMart can integrate with your provider.

  • Donations will be processed through your current system.
  • Tax receipts will be issued directly by your donation software provider.
  • Your accounting and reconciliation remain centralized with your provider.
  • ParishMart acts as a donation gateway, linking e-commerce with giving.

Legal Disclaimers & Tax Deductibility

  1. Tax-deductible status is not guaranteed by ParishMart.

Only donations made to organizations that are officially recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) may be eligible for a tax deduction by the donor.

  2. Donors are responsible for verifying the status of the recipient organization.

ParishMart facilitates the transaction but does not certify nonprofit status. You may confirm an organization's eligibility through the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search tool: https://apps.irs.gov/app/eos/.

  3. ParishMart is not a donor-advised fund or charitable organization.

It acts solely as a technological intermediary between buyers/donors and listed causes or nonprofits. ParishMart does not issue tax-deductible receipts on behalf of any organization.

  4. No refunds on donations.

Per IRS Publication 526 and general U.S. tax law, charitable donations are non-refundable, even if the donor later disagrees with how the funds were used or changes their mind.

  5. All donation-related activity is subject to applicable federal and state laws governing charitable giving, including but not limited to:
    • Internal Revenue Code §170 (deductibility of charitable contributions)
    • IRS Publication 526 (Charitable Contributions)
    • State charitable solicitation registration laws, where applicable.
